GoodType Magazine
The project objective is to curate a new magazine concept. I chose GoodType after they published the first an annual type catalog from a Kickstarter campaign, raised $58,889 with more than 1000 backers.
GoodType an online community that connects creatives and enthusiasts in the global community to elevates and celebrates the art of lettering. It was found in July 2013 and has grown to a community of almost a million. It will be a great opportunity to curate a GoodType quarterly magazine to engage the global community throughout the year.

The early bird costs $33. Cost for 1 copy: $40 (2 for $70). However, international shipping is costly ($50).
Magazine Concept
Goodtype quarterly magazine is more cost-effective. It will engage the global community throughout the year and differentiate Goodtype from other type curators such as Typism & other professional type magazines such as Type Director Club annual publication, TypeNotes, Eye on Design magazine, etc.
Bring in more educational content through in-depth interviews with professionals from different levels and design practices.
Combine Typography, hand lettering, calligraphy, and vernacular type & highlight the value of print design through textile experience.
The magazine will showcase not only beautiful work but also express the importance of making meaningful letters—form follows function. Thus, each issue will depict a topic of interest.
Magazine Content
To celebrate the diverse nationality of Goodtype’s community, the first issue will discuss about TYPE OF MY CITY. Typography/letter as a form of art is embedded within our culture and portrayed as a city’s identity. Typography in Austin is different form type in Calif, Oregon, or NYC as they are the expression of livability and the characteristics of the neighborhood. This issue brings together artists from different cities & countries, features interviews with Nisha, Annica, and Lakwena, and Goodtype Tuesday challenge winners. Each issue also comes with an alphabet poster as a collective piece for letter lovers.
